Link Radio: Charity To Hold 40’s Big Band Dance With The Melvin Beddow Big Band

Link Radio is a station which provides programmes to sheltered housing schemes in Castle Point, Essex. Founded in 1984, the station has progressed from a porta-cabin on Canvey Island to a permanent demountable in Castle Point, which was thoroughly refurbished last year.

Link provides output 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and aims to appeal to its audience with a mix of suitable music, information and interviews. All members are volunteers, with a range of expertise.

The station’s main fundraisers include a team who run the London Marathon and the infamous 40’s nights supported by the Melvin Beddow Big Band.

This year the 40’s night will be held on Saturday 26th October, 7.30-Late. Great fun and a fantastic way to socialise, see below for further details.

Join us and celebrate the great era of the 40’s to raise money for the good work of Link Radio! There is going to be great music with The Melvin Beddow Big Band Sound, lots of socializing and of course dancing the night away in vintage style! Military, Civilian, Vintage and Smart period-faithful dress is encouraged!
… (Due to unforeseen occurrences beyond Link Radio’s control, we have changed the venue for our 40’s night from The Mill Hall to The Paddocks, Long Road, Canvey Island. We would like the thank Castle Point Borough Council for their help and co-operation in this change of venues.)
